Emergency Preparedness

Nearly half of U.S. adults do not have resources and plans in place in the event of a disaster. Some populations and communities may be even more vulnerable when experiencing disasters due to economic limitations, impaired mobility, health conditions, or language barriers. The Research & Evaluation Group at PHMC collaborates with stakeholders in vulnerable communities to identify needs and barriers in the event of a disaster. Our group evaluates the impact of disaster preparedness programs (such as pandemic flu) and tools to help individuals, communities, and the organizations serving them to improve their preparedness for an emergency.

Some of our past and current funders include Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Red Cross.
