PHMC Institutional Review Board
Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) is committed to protecting the welfare and rights of its clients, patients, and consumers. PHMC has an Institutional Review Board (IRB) registered with the federal Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP) (IRB #0002451, FWA 00021142). Members of the PHMC IRB come from multiple research disciplines and from the communities in which research is conducted.
The PHMC IRB seeks to create a collaborative relationship with the research community to assure that research with human subjects is conducted in accordance with legal requirements and ethical principles of Respect for Persons, Beneficence, and Justice. These principles require the balancing of risks to subjects against the scientific knowledge to be gained and the potential benefits to subjects and society. The IRB also focuses on the informed consent process to assure that subject participation in research is voluntary.
The PHMC IRB reviews all human subjects research that involves clients, patients, and consumers of PHMC and its affiliate organizations. This includes research led by PHMC investigators, as well as research led by investigators at external institutions, such as universities and, other non-profit research entities.
